Retaining walls are typically used to retain soil on a sloping site but can also be used in many other landscaping situations such as raised garden or vegetable bed, make a feature wall or build a wall to use as seating for your yard.
Sleeper retaining walls are traditionally built using treated timber sleepers with an expected life in excess of 20 years. Today there are many other types of sleepers available as well. For example, concrete sleepers with a variety of moulded patterns or recycled plastic sleepers have an unlimited life expectancy and may be more ideally suited to your needs.
Brick retaining walls have their own appeal, of course. Brick walls are put together using mortar and are commonly finished with plain or textured cement render.
